Since I was little, soccer was my favorite sport and still is. I came from a foreign country where playing soccer was all we wanted to do because it was our passion. When we played soccer we forgot about everything that made us sad, and about our problems – it was like therapy for us.

Soccer is one of the most famous sports, and it is well known around the world, but especially in Europe where it is taken more seriously than anywhere else. It could be described as the war among clubs teams from my point of view.

The UEFA Champions League is an historical European cup that has been organized annually by UEFA (The Union of European Football Associations) since 1955, and battled among top football clubs around Europe. It is known as the most prestigious club trophy in European football (soccer as it is called in Europe), and considered one of the most glorious trophies in the world. Winning this trophy means getting the respect of opponent clubs, and get them to fear you.

The tournament consists of several stages. It begins in mid-July with three knockout-qualifying rounds. The sixteen surviving teams join sixteen seeded teams in the group stage, in which there are eight groups consisting of four teams each. The eight group winners and eight runners-up enter the final knockout phase, which ends with the final match in May, which could take place in any stadium in Europe. The only foreign players who are allowed to participate in this tournament are the ones who play for a team that belongs to Europe, otherwise they won’t be able to join in this wonderful event.

The tournament this year is much more exciting because when the transfer window was open, players were bought and sold and among these players were the best in the world, and because they are on different teams this year we don’t know which team is going to take the trophy to its homeland.

I am strongly betting on Real Madrid winning the tournament for this year. On the other hand, Barcelona is another big club that has a lot of chances to take the trophy despite losing a key player. Check out UEFA’s website at http://www.uefa.com/
