Foreign exchange student Jon Stariat proudly wears pink for breast cancer research.
October 27, 2009, the volleyball team encouraged the Reedsport and Cascade Christian communities to wear pink. They called it a pink-out.
The pink represented breast cancer research. Half of the proceeds from admissions, along with money from pink bracelets that were sold.
The wrestling and volleyball team did a 50-50 raffle, and the winner won 84 dollars. The teams donated their half to the breast cancer research also.
Taylor Lewis helped head up the project. "It was very successful event. We raised about 350 dollars."
The volleyball team made t-shirts that helped more students get involved and dressed-up. Right before the game started, the team tossed out more shirts that they had made.
"It was really fun to have the team come up with ideas for the shirts to say." said Taylor Lewis.
"It wasn't really hard to organize even though we didn't have much time. Everyone was all for it." said Eden Huebner, who also helped set up the event.
When asked about how he felt about wearing a pink shirt to help with breast cancer research, foreign exchange student Jon Stariatt said, "It made me feel very good helping the breast cancer patients."
