Fades Away, the name is not unknown in the Centennial and surrounding area. They are a band that belts out hard rock, Christian music on a daily basis. To get even more in-depth about their music you have to look deeper.
While talking about their music they described combining elements ments of melodic singing to metal screams with varying dynamics and unique instrumentals in their songs. The name in itself, fades away, has a very deep and thought provoking meaning. It describes the fading away or killing of a darker side of you, a side you hate and try to hide. The killing of this darker side brings about a new start.
They have some very good themes they try to convey through their music as well. A lot of their songs describe a person crying out from a dark place, weak and defeated, at the end of their rope, then getting saved by the Lord and getting a new start. They do this because each member of the band has been in that situation, the lowest of lows and is deeply A big part of that decision is they did not want to sound like this was recorded in a basement. They wanted store quality recordings. They definitely achieved that goal.
Looking farther into the future, most of the band would like to eventually start to tour full time, it is their main career goal. They have been around for about three years, with members coming and going (Centennial’s very own Travis Faust playing at Club Three Degrees with them). They have performed at many different venues such as Station Four, The Enigma, The Garage, The Dinkytowner, The Varsity, and Club Three Degrees. Their favorite is Club Three because of its good atmosphere, stage, sound, and lighting. The worst though was the Dinkytowner, it has a fairly small stage and inconveniently placed speakers.
They said the best part of being in band is playing music with your friends and having a good time. The worst, though, is the stage they are in now, they are making money, but not enough to have it as a career. Some of their favorite equipment is Dave’s notebook, Matt’s eighteen-inch projection crash, John’s delay pedal, and Steve’s eight by ten bass cabinet. Through their music they try to convey a good Christian message and they’d like to take that message to mainstream music.
At their show they had great stage presence and performance. They not only drew a good crowd, they gave them their moneys worth. They delivered each song without pause and extraordinarily. The beginning of the show was very interesting and unique. The crowd reaction and interaction was great and these guys will make it big without a doubt.
As we finished up our interview they had one shout out, and that is, “Travis Faust IS in the House”.
