“Hola Ms. Kennedy!” This year
Centennial welcomes a new Spanish
teacher, Laura Kennedy. Ms
Kennedy teaches second year
Spanish students, and is thoroughly
enjoying her time here.
“I am adjusting well to Centennial,
and I really like my students,”
Ms. Kennedy said.
Ms. Kennedy first became interested
in the Spanish language when
she started listening to the music.
She got her degrees in Spanish,
Linguistics and ESL at Saint Cloud
State University. Ms. Kennedy also
has family and friends in Mexico
that fuel her interest.
“I enjoy spending time with
my family and friends in Mexico
when I can,” Ms. Kennedy said.
Ms. Kennedy’s students like her
as a teacher, and are glad she came
to Centennial.
“She has good insight, and cool
teaching methods,” second year
Spanish student, Katie Vanderbloomer
said.
The students also said that she
uses different methods of teaching
that they have never seen before,
but they legitimately like them.
Some of the students’ favorite
method is when she passes out
the white boards for games. Ms.
Kennedy’s students also added that
she is funny, and makes her class
laugh a lot.
“She is fun to joke with. She
randomly started laughing really
hard in class today and it was super
funny,” another second year Spanish
student, Chelsea Miller said.
Ms. Kennedy would love to
foster great relationships with her
students, and teach them as much
as she possibly can this year.
“My favorite part of my job is
the time I spend in the classroom
with my students. It’s all about
them and their education,” Ms.
Kennedy said.
Many of Ms. Kennedy’s student’s
mentioned that they like that
she cares so much about their education,
and is willing to help them
with whatever she can.
“She always encourages you to
do your best,” second year Spanish
student, Alana Wall said.
Both the students and Ms. Kennedy
seem to be adjusting well after
just one quarter of being together.
“My goals for this year are quite
simple. I just want to make a nice
connection with the school, get
comfortable with the curriculum,
and see my students succeed,” Ms.
Kennedy said.
