The students at KHS received an award party during third block. In order to attend the party, a student must not have had any unexcused absences during the second and third six weeks of the first semester.

In the past, students have received bonus points onto their final GPA as a reward for attendance. However, this year the state decided that attendance and grades cannot be linked together, so administration here at KHS had to develop new incentive programs.

Vice-principal Mrs. Beverlin said that more students than expected, almost 350, qualified for the party. The party included refreshments, popcorn, and cookies.

Beginning with the new semester, a new incentive program will be implemented. On May 27, students with no unexcused absences and no more than three excused absences will be allowed to attend a trip to Kenneywood. For ninth through eleventh graders the cost will be $10, while seniors can attend for free.
