The It’s Academic team will be attending the It’s Academic Superbowl in Washington, D.C. this Saturday, May 12, 2012.
CHS will sponsor a “Fan Bus” to take Comet fans to the taping. Students interested in attending should see advisors Joel Miller and Jo-Ellen O’Dell for details.
There are about twenty students who are members of the It’s academic club, but only three are on the TV team. They are senior Chris Blair, and juniors Adam Antoszewski and Abel Deneke.
If the team wins the match, they will be awarded scholarship money; they have already won a total of $5000. They will be facing teams from Virginia and the Washington, D.C. metro area.

The students practice all year for their matches.

“[The students] constantly prepare for their matches,” Ms. O’Dell explained. They have their weekly practices and weekend tournaments at St. Pauls school; also they study on their own and use the website sporcle (sporcle.com) to study.”
A lot of the material they need to know comes from school, so being a good student is part of being a good It’s Academic team member. All of the students work together in helping to study and memorize facts as a team effort.
