Grab a sister, brother, friend, somebody — and get down to Mad Hatter’s, located on 1802 West Main Street in Durham, NC. Mad Hatter’s Café and Bake shop is a welcoming, friendly place that offers multiple types of sandwiches, pastries, and coffee. It is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but the prime time to go would be breakfast and lunch because much of the food on the menu is lighter fare. Also, the atmosphere of Mad Hatter’s doesn’t create a great sit-down place if you want to settle in for a long meal. It is more of a quick-bite kind of place.
I had the Hatter’s Breakfast and I was extremely pleased with my selection. The potatoes that came with the eggs were perfect. The potatoes were cut up into pieces with a little crisp on the corners; they had sea salt sprinkled on them, and were served very hot. The eggs were cooked thoroughly to perfection and had a great, fluffy, delectable taste. Also on the plate was a piece of pineapple, an orange and two strawberries. The fruit was fresh which added to the already enjoyable meal. For dessert I opted for a cinnamon Danish instead of a cookie or a cupcake because my lunch companions warned me that the latter choices were a little dry. My Danish, however, was very good because it had the right amount of cinnamon on it, and also because I heated it in the microwave that they provided.
The ambiance of Mad Hatter’s is colorful and relaxing. You could have a nice conversation because it has a quiet atmosphere. Everything from the food to the service to the ambiance was magnificent. You should hop on down to Mad Hatter’s soon.
