How long have you been running track?
Since sixth grade at Kahler.
Why did you start running?
One of my friends said I should run Cross Country since I couldn’t try out for volleyball in sixth grade. So I started running, and I loved it.
So what is your best event?
Probably either the 4x800 relay or the open 800 individual. I start the 4x800.
Do you hold any school records?
Yes, actually. We have the 4x800 record. I ran it with Megan Plenus, Rachel Zajac and Kailey Jenson last year.
What is your favorite moment with the track team?
State last year. There were some massive rain delays, so we all played “would you rather?” It was quite disturbing.
Are you going to run for any college?
I’m going to The University of Miami Florida. I originally looked there for academics, and I ended up getting a full ride. The coach made sure I got in. The girls are really nice, and I got a roommate out of it. Plus, I get to move in a week early.
Wow, a full ride! How did you manage that?
I had to meet all these different criteria like testing and GPA. I also had to go through interviews.
What do you plan on studying?
I’m going for Pre-Med.
So what inspired you to go into Pre-Med?
Well my mom is a nurse and my dad is a dentist. I also shadow a surgeon.
I also just really like helping people. I’ve been to the doctor many times, and I always appreciate the care.
If you won the lottery, and spent all of the money on one thing, what would it be?
My sister and I would go to Africa to set up hospitals and orphanages. I’ve planed on doing this since fifth grade. That’s why I like medicine, its universal.
So do you still plan on leaving the country?
I want to go to third world countries to help people. The University of Miami Florida has good programs that do things like this.
Anything you want to say to your senior class?
It’s been a lot of fun, good luck. I can’t wait to see where we are in 10 years. I hope we can stay in touch.
Any advice for the juniors?
It goes by a lot quicker than you realize. Work hard. You can accomplish something, but
most important: just have fun
