New bands across the nation are making an appearance, one example is Runner Runner. This is not the poker term “coming out of nowhere and pulling off a winning hand at the last possible moment”; however, the name did originate from that saying.
Coming from failing bands, the five got together and made their own. Nick Bailey (guitarist), Peter Munters (guitarist), and James Ulrich (drummer) from a skater-punk band, Ryan Ogren (front man) from a pop-punk band, and Jon Berry (bassist) from a counterpart band. In separate bands they occasionally met up while touring and hung out. Bailey told a reporter of gomoxie.org “We all grew up playing punk-rock.”
Doing better than the bands they were in prior to Runner Runner, they are each very excited about making more songs and CDs. “It is better than pop-rock, but not as hard as punk-rock,” says Jo Littleton, a teacher at Audubon High School. “I like the beat and drive to Runner Runner, pretty upbeat.”
