Many teens have part-time or full-time jobs while attending high school. -

Should teenagers have jobs? Most teenagers have some sort of job, if it’s working at a supermarket or just doing the chores at the farm. “[Jobs] teach you how to manage money and time,” said John Jensen, a senior at Audubon High School. Jensen, who is currently working at a local grocery store, is also doing many school activities, such as: FFA, football, and band.

Many students have jobs, "unless they're in [a lot of] school activities, “said Andrew Irlmeier, also a senior at Audubon High School. Irlmeier, even though unemployed, said he has been working on the farm since he was about six years old. Irlmeier is also very active in school activities; such as, basketball, golf, and baseball. Jensen also started working at a young age.

Does having a job during high school affect the teen's grades? “No, if you don’t over do it, “said Jensen. Since many of the students at Audubon High School are very active in school activities, they just might not have the time to have a job. Teenagers may have a lot on their shoulders, with school, extra-curricular activities, jobs, and their whole future ahead of them. Teens seem to do whatever will prepare them for the near future, and if that’s having a full-time job while attending school, well then go for it.
