With the school year coming to a close, the AHS seniors are getting ready for their lives after high school. While several students graduated at semester, most decided to stay back and finish the rest of the year. A few of the students have an interest in Iowa State or the University of Iowa. Some students have decided to go directly to work full-time jobs, some are going to private colleges, and many are attending Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) or Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC).

Drew Keller plans to attend Buena Vista University this fall in hopes of a career in athletic training. “I think it would be fun to be an athletic trainer or and athletic director,” said Keller, “I want to do something that involves helping athletes succeed.”  Keller said, “BVU is a private college with a small campus, and it only has about 1000 students enrolled. I only know of four other people from AHS that are going to attend there.”

Junior Chris LaFoy has his career goals planned out already. “I plan on attending Iowa Western,” said LaFoy. “I want to go into computer engineering. I’m planning on taking either a two or four year course in the computer courses there.”

Most of the students have their career goals planned out and are planning on their next journey in life!
