Are you extremely freaked out about finding a cheap Halloween costume? Are you the typical lazy teen who waited until the last minute to worry about a costume? If you answered yes to either of these questions, this is the article for you. So many people want to have the best, most original costumes this year but at the prices local stores are asking, you’ll go broke! Don’t worry dear readers. Just for you, I have assembled a list of seven easy and cheap costumes you can make at home in a small amount of time.

1)

The “Smarty” Pants- This is the easiest costume possible. Get a pair of old sweats and glue several packages of Smartie candies to them. In five minutes flat, you’ll have a costume and a humorous pun all in one!

2)

The Gumball Machine- For this easy costume, simply get a gray beanie, a red t-shirt, a clear garbage bag, and a bag of balloons. Put on your gray beanie and red shirt. Then, cut holes out of the garbage bag for your head and arms. Put the garbage bag on over your clothes and fill it with small, inflated balloons, and there you have it. You are one of the most popular candy machines around!

3)

The iPod Commercial- This one is my personal favorite. Dress in all black from head to toe and paint your face black. Either use temporary spray hair dye or wear a black cap over your hair. Glue a piece of fluorescent colored poster board to the back of your shirt. Draw the iPod logo on either of the top corners of the poster, and carry your iPod with you. You’ll have one of the most popular costumes around, if you don’t try to dance like they do in the real commercials.

4)

The Spam Monster- For this simple costume, go to your email inbox and print out all the junk mail. Cut out the messages into different sizes and glue several onto a long sleeved shirt. Get one piece of print paper and write inbox on it in black marker. Tape it to your forehead, and you’re ready to go!

5)

The Rubik’s Cube- All you’ll need for this classic costume is a box and 5 different colors of construction paper. Cut the flaps off the bottom of your box, and cut holes for your head and arms. Then, use the construction paper to make different colored squares to be the cubes. Glue the squares onto the 5 sides of your box, wear a shirt with long sleeves and pants of the same color, and put the box on over your clothes. You are now the classic toy that generations have loved. If needed, use a picture of a Rubik’s Cube as a model.

6)

The Basket of Laundry- Go to any store and buy a cheap, white laundry basket. Cut a hole in the bottom of the basket big enough to pull up onto your hips. Dress up in white pants and a white shirt, put on your laundry basket, fill it with some laundry, and pin some fabric softener sheets to your shirt. Congratulations! You are now one of everyone’s most dreaded chores.

7)

God’s Gift to Women- Obviously, this is a costume for just the boys. Get a large box and cut out three holes for your head and arms. Cut the flaps off the bottom of the box, and cover it in wrapping paper, leaving the holes for your head and arms open. Put the box on over your clothes and tie a large bow around your head. Using a piece of plain printer paper, make a gift tag that says To: Women, From: God.

Using any of these ideas, you’re sure to be a hit when you go trick or treating, to a party, or even to school. Good luck and Happy Halloween!
