Would you donate something for someone? One person here at McNairy Central High School did back on November 5, 2008. Senior Ethan Huggins cut his fourteen-inch long red hair. When asked why he decided to cut it, he said, "I really wanted to give it to Locks of Love. I did it for my friend Blake Matlock."
Locks of Love is a non-profit charity. There are some requirements to be a donor. Donated hair has to be ten inches long. The hair cannot be bleached, chemically damaged, or over processed. The hair must be in the form of a clean, dry ponytail or braid. To be a recipient of the hair, you must eighteen or younger. You have to also have long term hair loss from alopecia, scalp burns, or a similar condition. Also, you must have a proof of financial need. One last things is you need two provide two letters of recommendation, an essay, and a photo.
"I am very proud I let it grow out. It took a very long time, about two and a half years. It feels very weird to not be able to fling my hair around. I like it, but I had an out of body experience the first few days. It does not take two hours to dry my hair, which is about the only thing I like about it. I just wish I had cut it earlier because right now it is really cold."
