HOSA. Not very many people know what this club stands for. Or its purpose. HOSA stands for Health Occupation Students of America. The Heide Trask High School HOSA club installed its 2011-2012 officers on September 14, 2011. The members and officers invited their family and friends to celebrate the big night with them. It was a prestigious honor that all the officers accepted.
“It was very nice and well thought out. Ms. Collins did a great job in setting up for the introduction,” said junior Janae Clark. “It was a very nice ceremony.” All the officers were inducted and given a symbolic gift for their position. These gifts were their tokens to officially start the HOSA year.
Senior Samantha Morgan said, “It was kind of a wake up call. It meant I had to step up and be the president and take charge.” This ceremony brought an awakening to, not only the officers, but the members as well because they began to realize that they needed to take their duties seriously.
“I was excited to hold the first HOSA officers installation because I have been trying to get it started for at least five years,” said Ms. Collins, the advisor of HOSA. HOSA finally got started after the years of work, and it finally took flight. With the start of HOSA, the officers and members need to begin planning their first Fall Leadership Conference of the 2011-2012 school year. There is much work ahead, but the advisor and new members welcome the challenge.
