Benjamin Button: A Tale Worth Seeing Embed This Article
“Benjamin Button,” starring Brad Pit, is the story of a boy born as an eighty-year-old man. The boy is raised in a home for the elderly after being abandoned there by his father. Although he is different, he raised as a normal child. As he grows older, he ages backwards, growing from a feeble old man to a strong young man.
Along the way he meets interesting new characters. One of them being a drunken Tugboat Captain. He then joins his crew and travels with him for many years. After this adventure he returns to New Orleans where he was raised.
The main relationship in the story is that of Mr. Button and a red-head girl named Alice. The two eventually age to meet in the middle. This becomes a love story. Alice and Benjamin have a child. Benjamin leaves knowing that he is continuing to grow older (meaning for him, he is physically growing younger), and cannot be a good father. The relationship between Benjamin and Alice makes it hard to stop watching.
The story is captivating in the way that it could never realistically happen. Although you don’t believe in the story completely, you can’t help but get deeply involved and hope it ends happily. Although the conclusion could have been a little more happy and similar to a fairy-tale ending, it leaves you almost completely satisfied.
