Friendships

By:Kassandra Givan

A friendship can mean wanting to give more than you can receive, giving love, and saying I’m here for you. It can also mean someone being able to ease the loneliness in life, someone who can be there to laugh and cry with you or someone you can share not only the good times with you but also the bad ones as well. How do students at Kaiser define friendship?

“Someone who will make you a better person,” said Jasmine Roberts.

“Very pure and beautiful,” said Gabby Gomez.

“Being able to be yourself around someone completely without them judging you,” said Natalie Iraheta.

Or, “someone who will simply stick around,” said Gisey Aguilar.

There are many friendships at Kaiser, whether they are best friends, close friends, or buddies, but what makes them such a good friend to know them for so long? Natalie Iraheta has only known Gabby Gomez for 7 months and she thinks Gabby is a good friend because, “She is always telling the truth and she an outgoing person.”

Jasmine Roberts has known Aysia Randall for 3 years and Aysia is a good friend because, “I can always trust her and we always have something to laugh about when we’re together.”

There are those friendships that will last for a long time, while some may come to an end. Many friendships end because of a change in personality, an argument, betrayal, or choosing a boyfriend or girlfriend over them. What do you think will end a friendship?

Sheyla Pulido, Gabby Gomez, and Jasmine Roberts think, “Someone backstabbing you” could end a friendship. While Natalie Iraheta and Gisey Aguilar think, “Lies or not being able to trust someone” could end a friendship.

Allow your friends to be who they “Want to be” rather than what you would “Like them to be” and enjoy those friendships that are sincere, lasting, and filled with love, joy, and laughter.
