Coach Anthony Brantley

Last Thursday, May 14, the girls basketball team had a meeting during lunch.  Little did they know that they were about to receive some shocking and unexpected news.

Coach Brantley, the girls’ coach, announced that he was going to be moving to Ark City, Kansas to coach boys’ basketball, so he could be closer to his family.  The news devastated the girls as they thought about losing a great coach and friend. Coach did an outstanding job with the girls’ basketball team and made them not only a team again, but a family.

As meeting came to a close, the halls and bathroom filled with sobbing girls.

“Coach Brantley has inspired me a lot. He gave us goals to reach, which I will always apply to my life. He has been a great Coach, and I hope to one day make an impact on a team as he did ours,” stated Junior Jessica Girdler.

Coach Brantley and his family will be gratefully missed next year at school and in the community.
