Last week, the Future Farmers of America program hosted its annual FFA week. Tractors greeted student all around campus. Hay bales and overalls were a common sight.
"I'm so glad that the week finally kicked off," said FFA member Cameron Delsol. "We get a huge opportunity to show this school what we do as an organization."
Woodland High School's FFA program, as well as its agricultural program, have been two of the most prestigious programs in the area. They have banners and trophies to prove it. Last year, a select group of student traveled down to Fresno, California to participate in a botany competition. Woodland High School came back with a third place finish out of twenty-four other schools.
"Our program is no joke," said FFA president David Cristler. "We do what we do because we love our environment. We're not a bunch of hippies. We just care about the agricultural aspect of life and of our community."
Throughout FFA week, there was a series of activities promoting FFA and trying to draw in members. A gallon milk chug and a car show were just two of the many activities going on that week.
"I am the milk chugging champion," said Christian DeKnikker. "I've been winning this competition since I was a freshman and I have to defend my title one last time."
