Boom...Boom..., then the rain starts tap dancing on my window.

I begin to think about why many people (including me) hate coming to school when it's raining.

First thing is getting up in the morning.Whenever I hear the rain, I just want to go right back to sleep. My bed feels so warm I don't want to get up.

The second thing I hate is walking to the bus stop in the morning.

I have to catch the bus at 6:26 a.m. and sometimes, the bus doesn't even come on time. That means I have to stand in the rain for a longer time.

I have to walk through wet, muddy grass. My umbrella does not help either. My umbrella turns inside out, so I might as well not even carry one.

Then, the bus ride makes me so sick. I have to ride on the hot and humid bus for about thirty minutes. People ask to sit with me when they already know my answer--no.

The seats are always wet. You have to dry your seat with your jacket or either come to school with wet jeans.

When everyone finally arrives at school, most people wish they were at home in bed. You see all types of expressions; students mostly look sluggish, mad and sleepy.

Everybody tries to walk all the way around school so that they won't get wet. When the halls are slippery, you have to watch your step or you just might slip and fall.

Then you have to suffer the consequences of being late to class, like getting written up or sent to I.S.S.

When I finally arrive to class, some teachers seem to be happy-go-lucky, always wide awake. They act as if everyone is not sleepy.

"I don't mind coming to school when it's raining," said Mr. Eddie Pruett, biology teacher. "I do hate it that the kids don't come. It seems we have a higher absentee rate on those days."

So, even though I'm sleepy and wish I were back at home, I struggle through the day. When the song of the day comes on, following the afternoon announcements, I get so happy.

But just when I think the nightmare is going to end, I think about how I have to ride the bus for thirty minutes back home again.
