Now that the 2007-2008 writer’s strike is finally over, when will our favorite T.V. shows be back on the air? All of the writers are back in the office hard at work to get fresh episodes back on the air. And, speaking of the office, what has happened to the most popular office on T.V.? The hit comedy The Office, on NBC, just had it’s first new episode since the three month strike has ended on April 10. And, it is like the show had never left.
The Office returned with a great new episode and does not seem to have missed a beat during it’s hiatus. Couple Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer) put off going over to Michael (Steve Carell) and Jan’s (Melora Hardin) house for dinner too long and are forced to in the episode. Co-workers Andy (Ed Helms) and Angela (Angela Kinsey) are also invited, which makes Dwight (Rainn Wilson) increasingly jealous. Many of these cast members, such as Mindy Kaling (who plays the talkative Kelly), supported The Office writers by picketing along side them during the strike. The reason the writers were striking? "You’re watching this on the internet, a thing that pays us zero dollars," explained The Office writer, Michael Schur, on a Youtube video of the striking writers. Writers were not being payed for episodes that were viewed on the internet for free or for DVD sales of their show.
The are many more new episodes of The Office to look forward to. Upcoming episodes include stolen packing spaces, a night of clubbing with Ryan, Dwight, and Michael, and Stanley gets an attitude adjustment. To find out about all of the future episodes, log on to nbc.com.
The Office has launched many of their cast members onto the big screen. John Krasinski is in the new film Leatherheads, where he stars opposite veterans George Clooney and Renee Zellweger. Also, Rainn Wilson was in the hit Oscar winning 2007 comedy Juno as a convenience store clerk. Many of the unknown actors on The Office have stepped into the spotlight since joining the cast.
Other shows that will be returning soon are: Gossip Girl (April 2), Grey’s Anatomy (April 24), House (April 28), and Ugly Betty (April 24). Keep an eye out for these and other returning shows!
