A healthy diet for teens is very important. In this stage of your life, you are growing and experiencing changes. Healthy eating habits, such as getting in every food group, can help the steady growth of teenagers as well as maintaining weight and brain development.

Teens tend to play a variety of sports. Diets may increase the pressure on an individual’s life and sometimes make them struggle. Being on a diet while playing a sport, at such a young age, may increase a rapid weight loss. Weight should not be a concern for teenagers. Your body is still growing and changing. Diets and weight loss affect the natural growth of your body. This is a danger to teens, because early dieting and too much weight loss may cause eating disorders, like anorexia, because teens are not pleased with their appearance.

"Healthy eating is not about strict nutrition philosophies, staying unrealistically thin, or depriving yourself of the foods you love. Rather, it’s about feeling great, having more energy, and keeping yourself as healthy as possible," said experts at healthguide.org.

When you are on a diet, you are not getting all the main food groups you need to grow healthy and strong. That is why it is important to just have a healthy way of eating rather than diets. Teens especially are concerned about how they look thanks to the modern day media. You can look good, thin, and healthy by eating healthy rather than dieting.
