Despite Palmetto’s injuries from their previous game against Columbus, the Panthers were victorious against Miami High on September 11,2008. Panthers brought back their team’s confidence with a score of 21 to 3. Defensive lineman Jamaine Brooks believes their performance against Miami High, reestablished the team’s confidence from their disappointing loss last week.

“The team knew we were going to win the game but we just didn’t know by how much,” Brooks said.

After the team’s victory, Panthers studied videos of their performance to avoid small errors the rest of their football season. Head coach Larry Coffey believes that after Palmetto’s victory, his team’s offense did not reveal their full potential on the field.

“After watching the film with the team we learned that we should have executed at a higher level,” Coffey said.

Also, Coffey explains even with their successful outcome the team suffered a great loss injuring the wrist of running back Jamal berry. Jemaine Brooks questioned his team’s ability after Berry reported he was injured. Palmetto’s defense continued to play the remainder of the game without running the ball offensively.

“We started to ask ourselves; Can we score with out him?” Brooks said.

According to Coffey replacement running backs, Wilfred butler and Jeremy Williams, are going to be covering the running back position, in order to maintain their hopes of South Ridge‘s defeat. The team practices with great anticipation as both the student body and team get prepared for the Panther’s third game against South Ridge. The game is scheduled on Thursday, September 25th at Harris field.

“We’re a Panther family, we always work hard,” Brooks said.
