Harlem seniors said goodbye at the amazing home basketball game when Guilford defeated Harlem in the last three seconds with a perfect three point shot, on February 18. The seniors were honored during the sophomore halftime show. They honored the seniors from the boys basketball team, cheerleading squad, and state champion girls bowling team.

When the varsity game started, the senior boys showed their experience when Harlem took an early lead. Adam Setter stated, I think the team has a lot of talent and we’ll do fine next year. The game started with Harlem in the lead, but then the lead was lost and regained for the rest of the game.

When halftime for the varsity game came around, the senior girls from the cheerleading team put on a memorable show with a bit of their tournament winning routine. Also during halftime, the girls bowling team was honored for winning the state title four times in five years. James Myers, a fan, stated, "The girls' routine was amazing and the bowling team looks very strong." When the game resumed for the second half, Harlem and Guilford continued to take turns with the lead. Harlem’s Chad Claudy and Eric Palm both had amazing performances. Chad scored an outstanding 18 points and Eric saved Harlem with a game tying free throw in the last 20 seconds. Guilford played strong defense by stopping the huskies shot; the Huskies answered back by driving the ball to the hoop. The game only got more intense as Guilford matched every shot Harlem made.

The game remained a tie until the last few seconds of the game when Guilford pulled ahead by two. Harlem got a bit of luck when Guilford fouled senior Eric Palm. Eric made the two free shots to tie it up with little time left in the game. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for a Harlem win. Guilford went on an offensive attack to put up an amazing three point shot, with the score tied, to win the game at the buzzer.
