The Interact’s Walk for Cancer will be held on Monday, September 24, 2012 during seminar. The Walk is to help cancer research, and will cost $5 (dollars). Anyone not in Interact can join the walk. The walk will be held around the circuit, the high school and the parking lot. Interact members will be handing out fliers and getting pink balloons ready.

The walk has been organized by Interact, which, according to the Interact Club website: “Iis an international organization of service and social clubs for young people of secondary school age that fosters leadership and responsible citizenship and promotes international understanding and peace. The name was created by combining the words "international" and "action." Interact Clubs are sponsored by Rotary Clubs.”

Interact Sponsor Carmen Buller said, “The walk is mainly an opportunity for the students to become more aware about the cancer that affects many people.” All the proceeds will be going to a cancer research foundation. “The walk is to raise money and awareness about cancer, and students can get out of seminar to walk for a good cause,” explains President Marcie Webber.

The walk also has personal meaning for the members, When asked Ms. Buller said, “I have had aunts and cousins affected by breast cancer so it’s important to me that people are aware.” Marcie also added, ”I think that we can get a lot done and hopefully make a difference.”

The walk is a way to raise awareness of a very good cause.. Anyone affected by cancer will want to join to be a part of the action. Donating just five dollars can make a world of difference to anyone affected by cancer.

Interact has plans to do things like the walk every month. Recently the officers of Interact held a retreat where many service ideas were suggested. All of the ideas suggested at the retreat will either help people in our community or raise awareness of community issues. The officers have plans that will raise money for good causes or do service that will positively impact our community. The Walk for Cancer is just one of those good things they will be doing this year. Join them to make a difference.
