This year the Special Olympics was held on Sunday, September 23. Cameron’s Special Olympic Team won their flag football game that day. Part of the Varsity Football Team showed up to help out with the Special Olympics. They helped out by coaching the team and playing quarterback for the participants. The football players switched in and out playing quarterback so they could mix it up for the flag football players and gave everyone a chance with the ball This allowed everyone an opportunity to score. The athletes with special needs really appreciated having part of the football team there to help them out. The Varsity
Football Team also benefitted from the interaction.

Senior Tyler Roberts said “It felt good knowing I helped the kids smile and have fun.” It always makes people feel good when they do something good for other people and these athletes who helped out with the Special Olympics made themselves feel good by helping. They also put a smile on the athletes’ faces.

Senior, Michael Richardson stated, “I learned a lot helping out with the Special Olympics, but the most important thing I learned is that no matter how bad you don’t want to do something for others, you should go ahead and do it because it makes someone else smile and have fun.” What Michael said is true. Based on Michael’s advice, people who help others would be more appreciated by many people which in turn would make them feel good about themselves as well.

There were many people who showed up to support the athletes during the Special Olympics. Not only those helping out, but also many fans showed up to support all the kids who participated. The fans who were there to support the athletes made a big difference in how the athletes felt about the game. It helped the kids know they are appreciated. The kids were excited to have some of the football players help coach in the game.
