Oh, Valentines Day. It’s the one day for everyone, from love-sick freshman to long-time committed seniors, to treat their significant others to a special date. The cliché dinner and a movie dates are always a classic, but some like to be more original.
“My junior year, my boyfriend of a year and a half asked me to be his Valentine by standing in my driveway in the snow, holding a sign that read, “Will you be my Valentine?” He stood there on a Sunday morning until I woke up. That night we just rented movies and baked cookies. It is my most memorable Valentine’s Day ever.”
-Bekah Dedear, 12
“Last year on Valentine’s Day, my boyfriend who I’d been together with for almost a year surprised me with a great date. He and I decided to get our pictures professionally taken so we’d have one for each of our wallets. Then after the pictures, we walked around the store and he bought me an earring and necklace set and a teddy bear. After all that, he took me out to eat. It was definitely a great Valentine’s Day.”
-Jessica Wilcox, 9
”Two years ago I had a girlfriend that I had been dating for awhile. I wanted to make our Valentine’s special, so I gave her a card that had a poem in it that I actually wrote. It was from the heart, and she loved it.”
-Tanner McGibany, 12
“I was a freshman, and guy from another school made my Valentine’s Day. He couldn’t hang out so he left at my house a basket with two roses, a white chocolate candy bar, and red and pink Starburst because he knows I didn’t like the other kinds. It was really nice to have someone care that much about making my day.”
-Rachel Bear, 10
“Sophomore year was one Valentine’s Day that sticks out the most to me. I gave my girlfriend at the time a blanket, but rolled up in the blanket was this necklace I’d gotten for her. And then we made brownies. We stayed home the whole time and had a grand time.”
-Conner Haynes, 12
“My freshman year I had been talking to this girl for some time, so of course I wanted to spend Valentine’s with her. We walked around the local park, just talking about everything. Afterwards, we went back to her house where her mom made us chocolate covered strawberries; one of the best Valentine’s Day yet.”
-Jared Bowen, 11
