You may know your zodiac sign, but do you know how it came about and what it means? Your horoscopes are based on the precise date, time, and place of your birth. The practice of astrology actually started around 2000 BC when the band of the sky was divided into 12 sections. You know them as the twelve zodiac signs, which were named after a constellation.
The zodiac signs are also divided into four different elements, Fire, Earth, Air and Water. The fire element desire freedom and they are energetic, creative, assertive, and enthusiastic. The earth element needs security and they are very practical and materially-minded.
Much like the water element who also needs security, they possess powerful emotions which explain why they are very intense and sensitive. Finally, there is the element of air who also desires freedom; they value mental compatibility in romance more than passion or looks.
Zodiac signs are also classified by quadruplicities, cardinal, fixed and mutable. The four fixed signs are Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio; they are inclined to sustain or stabilize what has already been created.
The four mutual signs are Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, and Sagittarius; take what has been created and attempt to alter or adapt it. The last four signs are cardinal, Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn; they initiate, create, or counter one initiative with another.
Zodiac signs are supposedly said to determine your personality traits. You sign may not tell the exact person you are but it has many qualities of you. The twelve zodiac signs are Capricorn, the goat, Aquarius, the water bearer, Pisces, the fish, Aries, the ram, Taurus, the bull, Gemini, the twins, Cancer, the crab, Leo, the lion, Virgo, the virgin, Libra, the scales, Scorpio, the scorpion, and Sagittarius, the archer. Which one is yours? Now do you understand your sign?
