We are not in the best of economic times. A lot of people have been losing their jobs and their businesses. Due to this, a lot of people have stopped making plans for going to college. Many high school seniors think it’s not worthwhile to spend money on college since the economy has been so bad.
College is not cheap. A lot of teenagers must get a job to help their parents pay for college. Also, going to college is not easy. Students spend part of their life not having so much fun with their friends and family, because in college students have to focus on getting good grades.
When in college, students will be living on their own away from family. This could be difficult because students will be away from habits they are used to.
However, everything has a positive side. Attending college helps you grow more mature and become more independent. You learn new things and meet different people. College makes you have a different understanding of the world in general because when you’re in college, you are more mature and see the world differently.
In college, you have flexible schedules with extended vacations and breaks. After graduation, you will make a good amount of money due to having a degree. Studies show that people who go to college and earn a bachelor’s degree get at least $20,000 more per year than those who don’t.
Also, going to college can make you become a better parent. Studies show that parents who have any kind of degree become better parents. You develop understanding of learning styles, so you can better help your children with homework. Also, you learn more about life and different subjects in college. These can make you more patient and understanding.
If you are a high school student, don’t give up the opportunities to make a better future for yourself. Going to college is something really important. Never give up anything that you always want to do.
Remember that in this country, you have many opportunities, so you should take advantage of them.
