The recent economic downfall has had a drastic effect on school systems all over the country. Many schools don’t have the funds needed to support programs, the maintenance of sport courts, and extracurricular activities such as JV sports or other clubs. A lack of funding also hinders making advancements in technology, or continuing to fund online subscriptions.
But thanks to an anonymous donation of $10,000, recently received by the superintendent of Abington Public Schools, Mr. Peter Schaffer, we will be able to fund more than we would have previously.
This donation will be earmarked for the school’s Library Media Center to pay for online databases and encyclopedias. This will allow students to advance their research and make it easier to find sources.
The Boosters has also made a large contribution to fund JV sports so that kids are still capable of the JV experience. Thanks to people with generous hearts, the upcoming school year will benefit from them.
