As a result of the United States Constitution many rights and values were created. I believe that many of the American rights and values are still very much cherished and appreciated today asthey were by our forefathers in our yesteryear. Although many people know some facts about the Constitution I am concerned that not many students (or teachers) fully understand it. We should be looking back on earlier generations when there were times of social unrest and uncertainty because those people knew their rights and tried their hardest to stay within their boundaries. In today’s society, kids and adults are wound up in the go, go, go lifestyle, and money is the center of the world. Most people fail to realize that if we lived in another country that even our most basic rights wouldn’t be there for a cushion. In many countries you can’t say anything out of line, do anything remotely wrong, or even practice your own religion without being fined, jailed, or even killed for your actions. What most people of today don’t do that elder generations did, is show a certain amount of decency and respect towards everybody. Today everybody has such an attitude, and they are full of ideas that they can do and say what they please, but that is far from the truth. We do have freedom of speech but such speech as vulgar, harassing, and abusive language is prohibited. If everybody would just step back and think for once, I believe that everybody would live in a better place, with more peace and harmony between cultures and races. Please help the student body and faculty to learn about our rights as people before we all segregate with extreme cultural differences.
