Twice a year, a huge event in fashion occurs in our very own New York City, as well as in many other fashion capitals of the world, including Paris, London, and Milan. It’s known as “Fashion Week.” Designers display their clothing for the following “fall” collection during the months of January to March while the “spring” collection is shown around the time of September. This year’s “Spring 2008” New York Fashion Week was held from September 5th to September 12th.
NYC’s Fashion week was sponsored by Mercedes-Benz and held in Bryant Park. It was near 42nd street and 6th avenue where many designers, such as BCBGMAXAZRIA, Diesel, L.A.M.B, Vera Wang, DKNY, and many more showed their new designs. Some designers displayed their collections in other parts of Manhattan. Many new designers debuted that week while other renowned designers continued to impress. Stylists noticed several trends for this season such as wild hats ranging from pleated hats, big and floppy hats, feathered hats, and berets. Also, belts were very big on the runways, ranging from chunky to simple, to help define the waist. Not only were there several accessory trends, short and lively dresses were also indicated to be back in style. Classic and calm tones such as navy and gray made a lot of appearances on the runway too. However, that didn’t stop several designers from using crazy patterns, cuts, and wild accessories in their new collections.
This “Spring 2008 Fashion Week” showcased a variety of amazing designs from equally astonishing designers. Plenty of celebrities, journalists, fashion buyers, and other different sorts of people came to this event. Nevertheless, most agreed that this spring season looks like it will be an outstanding one.
