“Journalism can never be silent: that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault. It must speak, and speak immediately, while the echoes of wonder, the claims of triumph and the signs of horror are still in the air.”

I was at an underage dance club with all my friends. I had a new

cute, girly skirt with a nice, well-fitted shirt and I thought I looked so good in it. Well, apparently I did because my crush asked me to dance. After the dance I walked over to my friends so I could resume my bragging. I strutted over thinking I was so cool because I just got back from dancing with the cutest guy in there. I turned around to look at him and saw that he and his friends were all watching me. I thought to myself “wow, I must look so good tonight.” Since I was wearing a new skirt, I carefully went to a clean stool to sit at the table—but instead of sitting in a stool I sat in a great big trashcan. My whole body fell in the trash and only my arms and legs were out. The cute guy I had been crush-ing on all night laughed and continued to walk away with all his friends. How horrible! I didn’t even get his number!

I’m all for dressing up and trying to

look cute on my weekends… the only

difference? I don’t walk around bragging,

gloating or strutting. You know

what that shows you’re doing? Acting

desperate and making an unnecessary

scene. And what did you do with that

scene? Well, you embarrassed yourself.

Can’t say I never saw that one coming!

The fact that you kept obsessing

over how good your looked was probably

your downfall. You like having

some attention on you, maybe you’re

not used to that, and you got it. If you

hadn’t been trying to get all that attention

with your

outfit, maybe

no one would

have noticed

your fall.

I was singing the national anthem at a hockey spirit game with about a thousand people, and in the middle of the song I forgot the words! Instead of singing “for the ram parts we watched” I sang, “for the lamb that we caught” and I sang those words very clearly and very loud so everyone heard! What

makes it worse is that when I was fiinshed, I found out that my crush and his friends had come to the game to hear me sing! They were all laughing hysterically at my mistake. I was so embarrassed!

Hmm, I have to say… I don’t see this

as too embarrassing. I mean sure, it’s

a shame that you don’t know the national

anthem and yeah, it’s pretty horrible

that you sang the incorrect lyrics

so loudly. But it’s known that idiotic

people forget what our nation stands

for. The point is, you’re not alone. For

future advice, don’t ever join choir. Oh,

and I almost forgot

“ramparts” is  one word.

You’re welcome!
