It is nearing the end of May, and to all the seniors at Platteville High School, and around the nation for that matter, that means one thing: graduation. Walking through the hallways and into the classrooms, it's not uncommon to see seniors at Platteville in a better mood then they have been all year. After twelve years of school, seniors are excited to finally be walking across that stage and getting their diplomas.
Graduation means many things to many different people. It could mean that it's time for someone to move away and branch out from their town and experience life on their own for once. It could be a happy time or a sad time for some people, or maybe both. Whatever a senior is feeling about graduation, there is one certain thing about it. It's arriving here shortly, and seniors are on the brink of starting a new chapter in their life.
Another aspect of being a senior nearing the end of high school would have to be procrastination. Most seniors, if not all, feel the seductive pull of the television at night, and instead of doing the math assignment due the next day they watch their favorite show or sports game. Being a senior, they've paid their dues and can slack a little, right? I think so.
All in all, on June sixth, the seniors will forever leave Platteville High School, and as sad as it may sound to some, it's mainly exciting and promising. We're off to start the next phase of our lives, and although college is what were looking forward too, we're going to miss you just a little bit PHS.
