When quarterback Colin Halloran scrambled to his left and got crunched by a Greater Lowell tackler, he knew that something didn’t feel right.

“At first I didn’t really think much of it, I thought it was just a stinger, but when I got the snap from the center on the next play that’s when I felt it really snap,” said Halloran.

That snap he is referring to was his collarbone. The Trainer told him he’d be out 6-8 weeks, minimum, for that type of break. Not only was his football season destroyed, but the three sport athlete immediately looked forward to the basketball season.

“As soon as I heard the time table, I was upset that I wouldn’t be able to start the basketball season on time,” said Halloran. “It was very bad timing.”

Halloran returned to action on January 12th in a game against North Shore. He led the Tigers with 16 points in a winning effort. He connected on 4 three-point field goals and added 3 rebounds.

“He comes back from a broken collarbone and it’s like he doesn’t miss a beat. He’s a special talent,” said senior captain Dave Walsh.

Halloran was able to return to practice in the past few weeks in an attempt to get back on track.

“The first step was just to run around, then to actually start running through some plays to get back into the swing of things,” said Halloran.

There is not much to do with an injury like this. There are no special rehab treatments. Halloran relied mostly on rest to recover.

Now that he is back, Halloran is ready to put the injury behind him.

“You can’t let it get to you. If you’re driving to the bucket and in the back of your mind you’re thinking, hopefully this guy doesn’t hit me, you’re not going to be successful. When I step onto the court I free my mind and just play.”
