Tyngsboro Theatre Program’s newest production is The Terezin Promise, the story of 6 Jewish teenagers living in a ghetto during the Holocaust.

The story is a continuation of “I Never Saw Another Butterfly,” only The Terezin Promise takes place four years later.

Before they can break out of the ghetto, the kids need to salvage some old poems and drawings that they made while they were there, a promise that the female lead, Raja (played by Jacqui Amrich), made to their former teacher, Irena (played by Yanna Lantz).

And they obviously encounter some problems along the way, like Nazi Soldiers.

The cast competed in a national competition in New York City during February Vacation, ranking “superior” and receiving the Judges’ Award.

For the annual Massachusetts High School Drama Guild Preliminary Round, the cast was placed in the top three and moved on to Semi- Finals at St. John’s Preparatory School.

Director, Laurie Marchese, was very proud of her cast even though they didn’t make it to finals in Boston.

“I thought that was one of our best performances, but I guess the judges didn’t agree,” said sophomore Alverina Berube.
