Theo Vrooman visited Tyngsboro High School Monday, April 13th. He arrived dressed in his army best and spoke to American Conflict and War Literature classes.

All the students arrived in the auditorium to see Vrooman and a sideshow of his journey to Afghanistan and Cuba.

As the students piled into the auditorium and took their seats, high school secretary, Ms. Jaimie Phipps came in and showed off her “best friend, Theo”.

Theo Vrooman left for Afghanistan for a year and worked with the prisoners in Mexico. He stated, “war is so different from what you all see.”

He continued with his specific job at war, a personal relations manager, meaning he worked with several types of people at war to find the plot behind the war and also to know the type of people that are living in the country.

“Many families are uncomfortable, and it takes a lot to earn their trust,” he said.

However, Vrooman became very close with the villagers and learned the underlaying factors of war.

Vrooman did not want to get into politics but stated he had his own opinions. He wanted the classes to know that war is definitely different than guns and shooting.

There are soldiers like Vrooman who are with the people and the children of the countries.
