The football team opened their 2009 season defeating Dover-Sherborn 22-20 in overtime. Senior captain Matt Donohoe scored two touchdowns and senior captain Zach Foley also scored one.

The captains prepared their team by having them attend offensive camps which helped the team work on their speed, and they had the players lift during the summer. Their hard work and dedication over the summer has already paid off with the victory over Dover-Sherborn.

The second win came on Homecoming over Arlington. Mike Aguiar scored his second touchdown of the game to put the team ahead for good. This game was well played from beginning to end, the final score was 22-19.

Two new coaches, Brent Kasabian and Ryan Gendron - both former Tyngboro football players - helped prepare the players for the upcoming season.

Standout seniors on the team other than Foley and Donohoe include captain Nate Estochen and Logan Rohrbaugh.

Due to the lack of players this year "The underclassmen have had to step up earlier than they should have to," said Coach Mike Woodlock. The Varsity team varies from seniors to freshmen.

Both the captains and coaches are impressed by the underclassmen. According to Foley, a freshman to watch out for this season is Chuckie Keenan, he has impressed the coaches and his teammates from the start. Another standout player is junior Ben Durand who stepped up last year as quarterback.

Despite the Dual County League competition, the team remains motivated and determined to get a lot of victories this year. Both Captain Foley and Coach Woodlock agreed that the game to see would be the Thanksgiving game against rival Groton-Dunstable.

According to Coach Woodlock, the strengths of the team are the senior leaders and the weaknesses are the lack of numbers and the depth of the roster. Foley believes that the defense is definitely a strength of the team and blocking could use some work.
