Although Hollywood, California is hundreds of miles away, Tyngsboro High School sophomore Rachel Sickinger found her way into a movie role.

At age 12, Sickinger knew she wanted to be in the entertainment business and soon got her own manager. In May of 2009, Sickinger's manager told her the movie Grown Ups was being filmed nearby and that she should try out.

"I had to go down to Boston and hand in a head shot with my resume on the back and slip it into a tiny box," said Sickinger.

Once she received the news that she had made it into the movie, she realized she needed to be on set in one week. Sickinger spent eight straight days from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on set, so she had to miss a week of school.

"You had to have four hours of school teaching everyday, but there was only like seven kids in the class." She said as she described her time on set for her first movie role.

"I was in four different shots, all based around a church for a funeral. I was just a funeral kid, like a mourner."

While on set, Sickinger met many famous actors and comedians. "I talked to Adam Sandler, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Chris Rock, and Kevin James. David Spade was very nice, and easy to talk to. He was wicked funny."

Although she played a minor role, Sickinger said, "It was wicked fun, and a great experience." She hopes that in her future she'll have more opportunities to be in other movie roles such as this one.

Grown Ups, co-written by Adam Sandler, is set to be released in June of 2010.
