The girls played with confidence their first game of the tournament while playing Lowell Catholic. "We scored three goals the first game, and we played strong from start to finish," said Clement. Their confidence and hard work led them to their first round victory and a 3-0 final score.

Senior Clement, Freshmen Amanda Hogan, and Freshmen Amanda Wickens played a strong offensive game and they each scored. Senior goalie Alyssa Varanowske completed her third shut out of the year after completing this game.

The girls soccer team had a very successful season, making it the furthest they have in recent years. The girls made it to the second round of the tournament, but unfortunately were two goals short while facing the Greater Lowell Technical High School.

Captains Becca Wickens, Ashley Clement, and Samantha Desisto led their team during this season. According to Clement, "I tried best to motivate the team and tried to make them play with the same passion I play with."

Coach Doug Clare inspired the team at practice by telling them, "It's like try outs all over again."

To prepare for the tournament the girls had lots of consecutive practices and the team motto was to "practice like a champion." This helped the girls move further, and was the key to success. They took one game at a time.

Although the girls had a tough season, they played to the best of their ability even while facing the best teams in the state including D1 state champs, Acton Boxboro. "Our record and the scores of our games definitely didn't show our hard work and effort that we put into each game," said captain Wickens.

According to Clement, "It's a bittersweet feeling now that the season is officially over. I'm proud we made it this far my senior year, but it was a tough loss and I was hoping we would have made it further."
