The boy’s basketball second round game on Saturday, March, 4 was unpredictable until the last minute or so, ending with a loss for the Tigers.

Located at Tufts University, the number seven seed Tigers faced the number two seed Saint Clement’s. Both teams showed strong basic skills such as passing and layups as well as outside shots and a strong sense of the court.

Saint Clement’s strongest offensive player, Heman Honore, racked in his 2,000th point of his high school basketball career. He shot 25 points on Saturday.

Some of Tyngsboro’s key players included senior captains Dave Lane and Matt Palazzola, as well as senior Dan Johnson and sophomores Ross Kendall and Colin Halloran.

At half time, the Tigers were winning with a score of 33-28. The Tigers were up almost the entire duration of the game until about four minutes left in the second half, when Saint Clement’s hit a three pointer to take the lead.

It was then that the Tigers relied on their outside shooters, Kendall and Halloran, to tie up the score.

However, the Anchormen didn’t back down and ended the game on a strong note, disabling the Tigers from regaining their prior lead.

Within the last minute of the game, the Tigers shot frantically, trying to close the six-point gap.

The leading scorer of the game for the Tigers was Halloran with 25 points including six 3-pointers. Halloran also had 3 steals, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists. Kendall pulled a close second, with 14 points.

Prior to this game, the Tigers won against Fenway 57-44 to advance to the second round. The red and white face-painted fans cheered on the boys team Wednesday night, March 1, in Kelleher gymnasium.

Tyngsboro, the number seven seed, proved to be the better team as they were ahead for the entire game. The starting line-up consisted of Ross Kendall, Mike Szablak, Colin Halloran, and senior captains Dave Lane and Matt Palazzola. At half-time the Tigers were ahead 29-21.

Key players in the game were senior Palazzola with 14 points and 12 rebounds and sophomore Colin Halloran with three assists, three steals, and seven rebounds.

The Tigers ended this season with a successful record of 12-10.
