Our school Safety Coordinator looks foward to a gang-free community.

Gang violence is a major issue in the community. Many students are commenting it. Students were asked to elaborate on how they felt about gang violence. Three students in King City High School had something to say.

“I think gang violence is actually a part of our society, in the fact that without it there wouldn’t be as many ‘cop calls’ and gossip. The downside is that the innocent are being tormented! That is not cool man! Grow up and settle your problems without violence!” says Ben Banek.

“I think our community will be better without gang violence because pretty much with gang violence a lot of people in our community get killed for no reason. It just needs to stop! Maybe without gang violence, the community will be a safe and joyful place to live,” says Bezabet Diaz.

Diana Martinez adds, “ Gang violence affects our community because many innocent people get hurt while everyone else keeps ‘moving on’, also many families have left King City because of shootings or being scared of whose next. If gang members just shoot themselves without actually hurting anyone else, then there wouldn’t be any problem, but it’s not that way so everyone feels endangered!”

These students think that gang violence should be dealt with a lot of precaution because many people could get hurt.

“Gangs are a serious problem in the community. I was planning to move away with my family, but I didn’t because none of my kids wanted to move. They love this town, even though it’s not safe for them. They love King City and they don’t want to leave.” said Ramon Rojas, a parent.
"Our community deserves to be gang-free; gangs are meant to destroy communities." said Carlos Victoria KCHS School Safety Coordinator.
