Well, Bears, it seems we are back for yet another year of school. Some of us walk the halls for the first time, while others are returning veterans to the high school lifestyle.

No high school year is truly kicked off until the events of homecoming week.

With homecoming comes the true sense of what high school is all about: the pride, the excitement, and the state of mind. We realize why we attend the school we do, and enjoy this realization and moment of sanctuary with our closest friends.

This year is no different; homecoming, which will take place on Sept. 26th and Sept. 27th, will begin our 2008-2009 school year with a parade bringing the Bear Creek Community together while demonstrating the pride which students and surrounding neighborhoods have in our educational center. The parade will take place Friday, September 26th at 12:30 P.M. at the corner of Yale and Estes.

The parade will include floats from Cheerleading, Poms, Soccer, and Senate as well as many more clubs. “All the floats must be based on the homecoming theme,” said junior Cameron Brown. The parade will also include horses, and even a firetruck.

Later in the night the Bears’ varsity football team will take on Lakewood’s Varsity team at seven p.m. at Jeffco Stadium.

During Half-time show senate collaborated a show that will include Poms, Cheerleading, and the Marching band and the famous annual crowning of homecoming king and queen.

After all this excitement on Friday, there’s still more to follow on Saturday. The homecoming dance will take place at 7 p.m. at BCHS. Tickets will cost $10 with an activity ticket, $12 without, and $15 at the door.

The theme of the dance is “All that Jazz,” and the dress is formal, so don’t show up in a t-shirt and pants. Be sure not to miss this year’s homecoming dance, Bears, for it was explained to be both “awesome” and “the best dance ever” by junior Senate member Joe Miller.

Bears, don’t miss out on any of the excitement of this spectacular homecoming, because who knows when this chance may come again.

Get out and show that strong and respectful Bear pride!
