When Bear Creek sports make the news, football is usually the sport being highlighted. However, this year, the football team has been outweighed by the brilliance of the boys’ soccer team.

The soccer team exhibited dominance throughout the season by winning league with a record of 14-1 in the regular season. The Bears were merciless in many of their victories. The combined score of their 15 games shows a 30 goal spread in the difference between opponents and the Bear Creek team.

With their dominance early on, the Bears had early hope for an undefeated season. However, these dreams were dethroned by Mountain Vista High School who pulled out victorious at the end of a close game. Senior Max Bignell stated in response to the loss, "At least we lost now as opposed to later. Now that we have a lost a game the pressure is off and we can just focus on State."

Seemingly enough, the pressure was off. The soccer team won its last three games, putting it in prime contention for the state title. With a league championship under its belt, the team was very hopeful to bring home a state championship.

The trip to the state championship began smoothly with a 2-1 comeback victory over Coronado. However the team’s journey ended in a 1-3 loss to Rocky Mountain High School.
