After Mr. Ron Ray left Bloom Trail, he passed the torch of principal on to Frank Kuzniewski. Now that we have a new principal it would only make sense to get to know him a little better.

He aims to improve student achievement, such as the scores on the PSAE’s for juniors. In 2008, the PSAE results were below the state average, but this year the scores have already been increased. The seniors scored higher than last year.

Another thing is “water coming through” in reference to the water in our fountains. Kuzniewski made reference to getting the pool back open and filled.

Kuzniewski cares a lot about Bloom Trail. When asked about what he is going to change, or look to improve he said, “One of the things that I’m really big about is the maintenance, the interior and exterior.  I also want to get a new floor in the field house. “

One thing that came along with a new principal is a new behavior code. The school has adopted a new system that changes many rules and standards. Kuzniewski approves of this system and thinks that overall it is more structured.

Another thing that came with was Kuzniewski’s announcements addressed via the TV, rather than traditionally over the public address system. He says he will continue to use this method but only if it is for things like he has done before, once in the beginning of the year and at the end of this quarter.

One thing that will not be coming to Bloom Trail is uniforms, despite what rumors around school say. While he has heard students complain, the administration has never brought it up.

Kuzniewski comes from a family of educators. Many of his family have worked in teacher or administrative jobs. Originally he wanted to be a journalist- specifically in radio. He even took a college course in journalism, but he fell into education.

With the fifteen years he has worked at Bloom Trail and Bloom Township, he has faced many challenges.  “Learning new positions”, was his biggest challenge. He also had to face the fact that he had to let things go, after working so hard with them. Other challenges were time commitments and getting to know more people.

Now that there is a new principal, it is obvious that there will be changes. One will have to see how these work out and how the school adjusts to these changes.
