Marching Band delivers Thanksgiving dinners to community families. - Kayla Perry-Smith
On Wednesday, November 24, members of the DHS Marching Band of Thunder and their director Ricardo Reid, Sr. ,worked hard preparing and delivering Thanksgiving baskets for ten families in the Greensboro Housing Authority Community at Ray Warren Homes.
Even though school was not un session, the band members came out to make the donation baskets which included items such as Butterball Turkeys, cranberry sauce, dressing, yams, rolls, canned goods and deserts were donated by the band members.
News 2 also visited the band room as they prepared the baskets and followed the band members to the Ray Warren. The news story was featured that evening during the eleven o’clock news.
The families that received the Thanksgiving baskets were grateful and very thankful that someone was also thinking of them during the holiday season.
Ms. Dixon, the choral director, and her students also joined in the spirit of giving by also donating a basket for a family.
