What do you get when you combine High School Musical with a twist of The Breakfast Club? "Glee"! Disney’s High School Musical is so last year; it is about all about FOX’s hit show "Glee" now. The show has recently won an award from the Screen Actors Guild and a People’s Choice Award. FOX’s hit television show "Glee" has been a success, but is on hold until the American Idol season is done.
The show will be back on starting April 13 on FOX after American Idol is finished for the season. From the creator of Nip/Tuck, Ryan Murphy has created the television show about a Spanish teacher Will Schuester, played by Matthew Morrison at McKinley High School who takes over the quirky, yet talented glee club. He firmly believes that this group of unlikely students has the skills to be great one day. The Glee club is constantly battling the harsh school system, the skeptical criticism of their classmates, and especially the head of the "Cheerios" cheerleading team: the devious Sue Sylvester, played by Jane Lynch.
However, when an ordinary high school student thinks "Glee Club," they would more often than not have "more like Geek club" cross their mind. What is it about Glee that makes people become ‘Gleeks’?
Since the glee club takes place in high school, there is the search of self-identity, decision-making, and the want of popularity, to which all teenagers can relate. The show includes typical high school stereotypes such as jocks, cheerleaders and nerds, which bring out the multiple personalities of the glee club. Journey’s "Don’t stop believin," is one of the well-known songs that the "Glee" cast sang during their first season, which revealed the incredible talent of the "Glee" cast. The sensational singing, dancing, and the personalities of the "Glee" cast are what make the show a journey in and of itself.
The plot makes the show even more interesting; glee club member Quinn, played by Dianna Agron, is pregnant, and forced to give up her spot on the Cheerleading squad. However, things get complicated when she asks her crush, Finn Hudson, played by Cory Monteith, to be the father of her baby instead of the biological father, Puck, played by Mark Sailing.
The "Glee cast is officially going on tour star"ting May 18, but only in four selected cities. So "Keep Holdin’ On" to that "Glee" fever!
