Boys' golf first at Salina Invitational
    The boys’ golf team placed first at the Salina Invitational April 23. Sophomore Kramer Howell also placed first overall.

    “I was excited because I got first,” he said, “but Hutch wasn’t there, and I still want to beat them.”

Soccer shuts out Newton

    
    The girls’ soccer team had a 10-0 shut-out against Newton April 20.
    

“It was fun because we got to practice some skills we can’t with better teams,” junior Grace Salazar said.
Softball undefeated after Salina Central win    
    The softball team is still undefeated 12-0 as of April 23. The girls' game against Salina Central proved to be an easy one, 18-0 and 22-0 in a double-header.
    
“It’s hard to travel and play teams like that,” senior Lindsey Vitale said, “but we stayed true to our game and got it done quickly.”

    The girls also had a victory over Derby, 11-8 and 13-2, April 20.

Baseball splits double-header with Salina Central    
    The baseball team had a split double-header with Salina Central April 23, 17-6 and 7-6.

    “The first game, I felt like we really swung the bats well, we kept pressure on them with our hitting and eventually they couldn’t keep up,” senior Logan Abbott said. “The second game I felt like Salina competed well and didn’t go away, [however] we made a few costly mistakes that cost us the game. Overall, I feel like the team played well, but there is always room for improvement, and we need to be focused at practice on the little things in order to play for a state championship.”
    The boys also defeated Derby 12-2 and 11-1 April 20.

Boys' tennis takes third at Maize Invitational
    The boys’ tennis team placed third at the Maize Invitational April 20. The team was two points away from second and five away from first.
