Often in our lives we are faced with a difficult choice: do we please our friends and make others happy or do we go with what we think is the morally correct choice?

Recently, PV’s administration came across a business decision that forced it to choose between the two. As Almond Bowl XXXVII quickly approached, the choice of who would provide the sound system for both the rally and the football game needed to be answered.

For many years the choice has always been Mohr Sound, but this year Tolar A.V.L. Incorporated proposed a generous offer to PV’s administration. Tolar offered to provide sound for both the rally and the football game for a price very similar to that of Mohr Sound. Tolar also offered a viewing screen during the football game, and most importantly they offered to give PV a percentage of the amount Tolar earns from advertising displayed on the screen at the game.

Tolar’s offer provided the opportunity for PV to gain a profit from choosing Tolar over Mohr Sound, and in a strictly business point of view, Tolar’s offer was the better deal.

What the administration had not taken into account, however, was the connection Mohr Sound has with PV’s unofficial Viking.

If the Viking stands for PV spirit and wants nothing more than to support the Vikings then the Viking should not let anything stand in his way. Even though the Viking has a connection with Mohr Sound, a business decision should not affect the Viking’s appearance at the Rally nor the football game.

The Viking’s decision to not participate in this year’s Almond Bowl rally seems very uncharacteristic of a Viking that wishes nothing more than to boost Viking spirit.

The Viking unexpectedly did attend the Varsity football game in the fourth quarter. He was well received by the raucous crowd, but what made him change his mind?

Was it the potential lost of the Vikings to the Panthers or was it planned all along?

Whatever the reason was, it undoubtedly had a positive affect. Not only was the Viking Family overwhelmingly supportive of the Viking, but soon after the Viking showed up, the football team scored another touchdown for the win. The Viking undeniably has a lasting effect upon the Viking Family and if he chooses to return no longer, he will be greatly missed.
