This years PV athletes have endured many struggles and successes. PV athletes from all sports have memories to share.
“My favorite memory for the wrestling team is that we beat Chico High when they were ranked number one, and because I got knocked out and still won my match,” said senior Rod Berry who participated in football and wrestling this year.
Many PV teams made section championships this year including boys’ golf, girls’ basketball, boys’ cross country, boys swimming and the boys’ basketball. The boys’ baseball team made it to sections as well as league championships.
On the slopes, the ski and snowboarding team made leagues during their season.
Success came with the price of hard work. The athletes also gained reputation.
”I had a knee injury in the middle of the season and my times got slower. When I went to leagues, it was kind of funny because I got second in the 200 but when I was running the curve I almost fell in the other girls lane,” said freshman Grabrielle Finley-Vaquera.
PV found victory not only on land, but also in the water. The Varsity boys swim team went undefeated this year up until masters.
There were some teams who improved from last year and some that still working to get there.
“Every team worked hard and was led by a motivated coach, some teams pulled through with winnings and others were marked with improvement,” said Pam Jackson, PV Athletic Director.
