Randomized drug testing is becoming more and more popular at high schools throughout the nation. Logan High has had random drug testing for athletes and other extra curricular activities, but recently the school administration has been thinking about randomly testing the whole school.
While no one would give a quote because there is no set plan of action yet, everyone seems to agree that by randomly drug testing students and making sure that the school is clean, the school would run better and grades would be higher.
Randomized drug testing is not necessarily a bad way to check up on students, but the school is also looking at more cost-effective ways to keep students drug free, such as adding activities to Red Ribbon Week and adding a required class for freshmen of 2009 where you meet with a councilor once a week for the whole school year to talk about your grades, take standardized tests and discuss career options.
